The AMS50 is a full function audio panel with built-in Marker Beacon receiver, 6 place stereo intercom featuring ALL, CREW, and PILOT ISO modes, plus true "split com" operation. Front panel controls feature soft touch push-button switching for quick and precise selection of transmitters and receivers.

System Flexibility and Expansion: The AMS50 can be expanded using various combinations of NAT products resulting in the system flexibility to support the most demanding GA and corporate audio system requirements. A two-panel cockpit configuration is available allowing both pilots the ability to control their own panels. This allows for independent selection of the transmitters, independent VOX circuits, pilot isolation, and crew modes. These TSO’d panels in combination satisfy the high workload multi-crew IFR environment.

System Expansion Products:
AA38-300 and AA38-301 local ICS expansion units = 8 to 16 mono passenger headsets per aircraft.

AA85 InterVOX II™ TSO = 6 high quality monaural headset positions with two independent VOX controls, ICS volume and music volume.

AA82 InterMUSIC™ = 6 passenger stereo headset positions featuring music volume, ICS volume and VOX control.

Transmit Select with True Split: Two mic select push-buttons allow each pilot to independently select any transmitter; "COM 1, COM 2, COM 3 or PA". One of four LED indicators above each push-button is illuminated to indicate the transmitter selected. "Auto" receive function will correspond to each selection. Pilot selection of transmitters can also be made via remote yoke mounted momentary switch. Com 3 can be configured as a telephone interface for full duplex operation.

Speaker: The "SPKR" push-button allows all selected audio to be switched to a cockpit speaker (4 ohm) through an internal amplifier. An LED above the push-button is illuminated to indicate that the speaker is on. Audio to the headset always remains on and cannot be defeated.

Direct Inputs: Accommodation for two (2) direct unswitched inputs for functions such as Rad Alt, GPS alerts, Telephone Ringer, etc.

Push-to-Talk ICS: This feature, when configured during installation, will allow the pilot/co-pilot and passengers the ability to use remote push-to-talk switches for specialty environments that make communication with VOX impractical.

Pilot / Crew / All Modes: The AMS50 intercom features three operating modes. The default ALL mode permits everyone on the system to talk to each other, listen to music, and hear all radio communications. In the CREW mode, the pilot and co-pilot are isolated from the passengers. Both the crew and passengers retain full intercom and music capabilities within their group while the passengers are prevented from hearing any radio communications. The crew’s music level is automatically set to the preset muted level while the passengers music muting remains as normal. PILOT ISOLATE mode separates the pilot from the intercom network, allowing confidential radio communications without interference from the passenger intercom or music. In this mode the pilot maintains complete control of the AMS50 audio panel radio functions while the co-pilot is completely removed and placed with the passengers.

Independent Microphone Circuits (Gating): Wind, engine and other fatigue noises are significantly reduced within the intercom system through NAT’s patented independent microphone circuits. By "turning on" only the active microphone, internal communications are quieter and less stressful.

ANF™: The AMS50 system utilizes NAT’s system of Active Noise Filtering (ANF™). This advanced technology better isolates the human voice while filtering out unwanted ambient noise entering the intercom channel. Clear, clean intercom communications result for a more comfortable and safe flight.

Stereo Music: The AMS50 accepts stereo music inputs from portable entertainment units, CD changers and other integrated on-board systems. The stereo output delivers high quality music to stereo general aviation headsets with a frequency response of 50 Hz to 15 kHz.

Adjustable Music Mute Level: A field adjustable setting provides adjustment control of music mute level. This allows the flexibility to customize the music muted level from 30% to 100%.

Marker Beacon: A built-in Marker Beacon receiver with a three light display and HI/LO sensitivity selection.

Fail-safe: Emergency fail-safe operation is a feature in the event of a power failure. The audio panel is automatically by-passed and the pilot is routed directly to the number one radio. Manual fail-safe operation is activated by turning the volume control counter-clockwise until it clicks to the OFF position.
